Murder on the Marlow Belle– Robert Thorogood ★★★★☆
A guilty pleasure of mine, if I’m honest! This is the 4th installment in The Marlow Murder Club series and I’m on tenterhooks to read the 5th! Something about three mid-to-old ladies teaming up and solving murders in their small and humble town gives Hot Fuzz vibes.
The Housemaid – Freida McFadden ★★★★☆
I’ll be honest, I’d been putting this off due to all the hype (I’m often stubborn enough to believe that not everyone can like one communal book, but… I was wrong). It’s interesting and thrilling and it keeps you so captivated – I found I was cleaning things in the house that didn’t even need cleaning just so I could listen to the next chapter. An amazing and easy read!
Way of the Argosi – Sebastien de Castell ★★★★☆
The beginning of the follow-up trilogy to the Spellslinger series! This installment is about Kellen’s mentor, Ferius, and her harrowing beginnings. It didn’t quite grip me the same way as its predecessor, but I’m interested in doing the other two books!
The Same Backward as Forward – Jennifer Lynn Barnes ★★★☆☆
Feels a bit cheap, unfortunately. It’s one of the stories in Games Untold, just padded out a bit more, and with Toby’s perspective. It’s alright but I don’t feel like I’ve learned anything new…
